English: 'Soreh' or 'Sore' or 'Soré' is a wild leafy spice used as a flavour enhancer agent in soups and recipes like 'ekwang', 'erembi', 'itokou' etc (all three dishes mentioned here are based on the roots and/or leaves of cocoyam of the Xanthosoma or Colocasia (Taro) genera), by the Oroko people in the South West Region of Cameroon. Dried leaves are introduced whole into the soup and discarded during eating. Some people may re-use more than once before finally discarding. To be re-used, once encountered during eating, the leaves are set aside and dried again on the band over the fireside awaiting subsequent use. Leaves could also be ground into powder before use. Leaves are harvested from the forest. It is often referred to by locals as 'maggi leaf' because it plays the same role as today's maggi cubes.
