Description |
Soldados, a pie y a caballo, avanzan hacia el convoy que se aproxima desde la lejanía; los grupos, más compactos de lo habitual en Sebastián Vrancx, ganan en unidad estructural, sin perder por ello en encanto narrativo. Un pastor con su rebaño de ovejas y un vendedor agredido por un soldado irrumpen, de forma pintoresca, en la contienda, que provoca el ejército regular, a las órdenes de un suboficial, identificado por el alarde y el clarín. Vrancx trata el tema, reflejo de la realidad de fines de siglo, en su aspecto narrativo y con una factura laminada y cuidada (Texto extractado de Díaz Padrón, M.: El siglo de Rubens en el Museo del Prado: catálogo razonado de pintura flamenca del siglo XVII, 1995, p. 1568). |
