from Annecy. PARMELAN. IV. Route So. 323 excursion-ticket, incl. D. and Ii. at the hotel, 11 fr. 10 c. — From Aix-lcs-Bains, see p. 319. The *Semnoz (5590 ft.) is a mountain, covered with woods andpastures, which extends to the S. of Annecy and to the W. of thelake for a length of about 12 M. The principal summit is the Orelde Chdtillon, just below which is a Hotel, where tourists pass thenight to see the sunset and sunrise. Although the mountain is notvery high, it is a celebrated point of view and has been styledthe Rigi of Savoy. The panorama includes, from left to rightbeginning on the N., the lakes of Geneva and Annecy, the Parmelan,the Tournette, the Swiss Alps with Mont Blanc, the Alps of Dau-phiny, the Lac du Bourget, and the Jura chain. To the Pabmelan, also an interesting and easy excursion. Agood path leads to the summit, on which is a chalet-hotel of theF. A. C. (30 beds, 2 fr. each). The most frequented and most picturesque route leads via Dingy(tramway thus far, see p.
