. It is too bad thatCornell will not have the services of Crosby in 1911. The season of 1910 was marked by less trouble with officialsthan any season in the recollection of the writer. It looks asthough the Bureau of Officials started by the Rules Committeewill successfully cope with the problem to the satisfaction of all. The game will have to develop the officials. It is not everyone that can referee a basket ball game. It requires more thana knowledge of the fine points of basket ball to be able toconduct a game. The men interested in the game are beginningto realize the importance of good officials, and the season pastsaw the introduction of more good men into the ranks of refereesthan ever before. These men will be better in 1911, while morenew officials should be introduced, so that the coming seasonshould see even further relief for this perplexing problem. Another splendid achievement that must be set down for theseason of 1910 is the re-formation of the Intercollegiate Basket

Hyatt of Yaje, 1904, president for tviroyears. With Hyatt, a graduate who has had much to do with Yalebasket ball affairs, as indeed he has to with basket ball affairsgenerally as the founder and chairman of the Basket Ball RulesCommittee from 1905 to 1910, in the presidency, the newly-formed league should be a big success and should have a last-ing effect for good on the game of basket ball. The old league was disbanded after the season of 1908 andthe seasons of 1909 and 1910 were played without organizationin the East. The game flourished to a certain extent duringthese two years, but there is no doubt that it is in very muchbetter shape with the foremost teams in the East organizedinto a league and playing a regular championship schedule.
