Description
Deutsch: Spitalkirche, Pfaffenhofen an der Ilm: Das Kriegerdenkmal wurde 1960 vom Krieger- und Veteranenverein errichtet und nimmt die ganze Länge der offenen Vorhalle an der Süd- und Westseite der Kirche ein. Außer verschiedenen Inschrifttafeln umfasst es fünf Wandmosaiken von Paul Weingartner (laut Denkmalliste des LfD) bzw. Michael Paul Weingartner (laut Wikipedia). Heute werden in der Vorhalle Fahrräder, Baustellenbedarf, alte Bücher und anderes abgestellt und beeinträchtigen die Wirkung des Denkmals. – Die Mosaiken zeigen folgende Darstellungen:
  1. Nordwand der westlichen Vorhalle:
    Auferstehung Christi
    Ein Kleiderbügel degradiert den Auferstandenen zum Garderobenständer und dokumentiert die Verständnis- und Respektlosigkeit mancher Nachgeborenen.
  2. Südliche Ecke der Ostwand der westlichen Vorhalle:
    Hl. Sebastian (von Pfeilen durchbohrt) und Hl. Barbara (mit Turm und Märtyrerpalme)
  3. Westliche Ecke der Nordwand der südlichen Vorhalle:
    Hl. Georg (als Drachentöter)
  4. Nord- = Hauptwand der südlichen Vorhalle:
    offenbar eine symbolhafte Darstellung, die man etwa als Kreuztragung/Kreuzweg der Gefallenen, Gefangenen und Hinterbliebenen benennen könnte (von rechts nach links: ein gefallener Soldat, ein kreuztragender Geistlicher, ein mit Stacheldraht gebundener Gefangener und eine trauernde Frau mit Kind)
  5. Ostwand der südlichen Vorhalle:
    Hl. Martin (Mantelteilung)
Die Fotos 669, 670, 678, 681 und 682 wurden von der Straße aus durch die Arkadenöffnungen hindurch aufgenommen.
