Summary edit

Description St. James Presbyterian Church at 409 West 141st Street at the corner of St. Nicholas Avenue in the Harlem neighborhood of New York City was built in 1904 as the Lenox Presbyterian Church and was designed by Ludlow & Valentine in the Gothic Revival style. The congregation was founded in 1895 as an offshoot of the Shiloh Presbyterian Church, and was located in five different places before settling in the current site in 1927. The congregation of the Lenox Church changed its name to the St. Nicholas Avenue Presbyterian Church before it merged into the North Presbyterian Church in 1927. (Sources: From Abyssinian to Zion)
