English: St. Mary's church and Lych Gate, South Dalton, East Riding of Yorkshire, England. The church of St. Mary at South Dalton serves two villages, South Dalton and Holme-on-the-Wolds. The church and tower, with its tall spire, were designed in the High Gothic style by John Longborough Pearson and built by the 3rd Lord Hotham, who laid the first stone in 1858, the church subsequently being consecrated in 1861 by the Archbishop of York. The lych gate was added in 1910. |
