| Description | St. Pancras Church, Exeter, 7 September 2014. It's origins are unclear, but is probably Saxon as it's planform and proportions are typical of that era and the remains of a former Saxon doorway is evident. It was probably rebuilt in the late Norman (c.1191) period and again in the 13th Century when Early English lancet windows were added. The wagon - or cradle-roof is of late 15th Century construction and is of a type typical in Devon. In the 16th Century Tudor Perpendicular windows were inserted. In Victorian times (late 19th Century) the chancel arch and east window were rebuilt. The chancel is on a separate axis to the nave |
