Summary edit

Description St Anne's Cathedral originally stood at the junction of Guildford Street (now the Headrow) and Cookridge Street. It was there for 66 years until the council did a compulsory purchase order on it in 1904 and demolished it. The council offered the church some land not far from the original church and the St Anne's Cathedral we have today was built. The painting by Atkinson Grimshaw shows the Cathedral as it was and the cross you can see on the steeple is now located in Killingbeck cemetery.
