Summary edit

Description The current church of St Bartholomew's dates from 1410 and was founded by Dame Isabel de Pembrugge in memory of her husband Sir Faulk Pembrugge. Their tombs are in the church. The church is the third building on the site and is in typical perpendicular Gothic style. It is renowned as the fictional graveyard of Little Nel out of Dickens' Old Curiosity Shop.
