English: Church of St Margaret of Antioch, Felbrigg, Norfolk, mural monument of William Windham (1647-1689), Esquire, 2nd son of Thomas Windham (1571-1653) of Felbrigg, Esq, (see his mural monument in same church) by his second wife Elizabeth Mede/Meade, a daughter of Sir John Mede, Knight Bachelor, of Lofts Hall in the parish of Wenden Lofts, Essex. He married Katherine Ashe, eldest daughter of w:Sir Joseph Ashe, 1st Baronet (1617–1686) of "Twittenham" (i.e. Twickenham) in Middlesex, with whom he lived 20 years, and had issue eight sons, Ashe, William, Thomas, John, Thomas, John, Joseph, and James; and three daughters, Katherine, Mary, and Elizabeth. The eldest Thomas and two Johns died infants; all the rest survived him. He departed this life June 9, 1689, aged 42. Also Katherine his relict, who died Dec 24, 1729, in her 78th year. Also states that Mrs Mary Windham, who died June 29th 1747, aged 71, and is buried at Bury St Edmunds. Arms: Azure, a chevron between three lion's heads erased or (Windham), impaling Argent, two chevrons sable (Ashe / de Esse). Crest: Windham.
