Summary edit

Description
English: St Michael's Church The church was founded about 1070, and the original had a cruciform plan. It was much altered over the ensuing centuries, but traces of the oldest parts can still be seen. The spire was added in 1732 and the church was the civic church until 1835. Unfortunately the inner doors were locked so I was unable to see the interesting interior features or the tomb of Sir Richard Lyster. See http://lbonline.english-heritage.org.uk/BuildingDetailsForm.aspx?id=135919&search=y for full details.
