Summary edit

Description
English: St Peter's Church - Old Tankersley Well worth visiting - a place of peace and tranquility (and refuge from the afternoon sun). We ate a rather late lunch sat by the wall in the shade of an ash tree. According to the Tankersley Trails leaflet, "A church was recorded in Tankersley in the Domesday book in 1086. The earliest parts of the church date from the 12th century. The nave and chancel date from the 14th century." From looking at the building the nave has a definite Tudor feel, while the chancel appears older. I'm guessing that the Victorians left their mark in the form of the church porch, tower and possibly replacement windows.
