Summary edit

Description Old photograph of St Ricarius Church, Aberford, West Yorkshire, England. Originally a medieval church, of which only the tower remains. The nave was mostly rebuilt in 1862 to a design by Anthony Salvin, but it includes an 1830 east wall. All architectural sculpture by Mawer & Ingle. Showing grave of Samuel Hick (1758-1829) and his wife, below the stained glass window dedicated to him. The head on the left side of the window was carved in 1861, based on descriptions by those who remembered him, as an attempt at a portrait of him (Source = 1862 newspapers)
