Description
English: Stained glass window near the font at St John the Evangelist, West Meon.
  • Left window, centre: arms of Stonehouse Argent, on a bend sable between three falcons rising azure a leopard's face between two mullets or(A Display of Heraldry By John Guillim[1])
  • Central window, top: (?) Arms of Deane, of Matlock, Derbyshire, afterwards of Beeley, descended from the Deanes, of Deane-hall, in Cheshire. Five descents are described in the Visitation of 1611 (Burke, Sir Bernard, The General Armory, London, 1884, p.271). Edward Deane, then living had a son Robert, 13 years of age. This family removed to Ashbo[u]rne, became reduced, and is supposed to be extinct. ARMS: Or (here shown argent), a fesse dancettée in chief three crescents gules
