Stamp of Spain;1969; commemorative stamp of the series "Stamp Day 1969 - Paintings by Alonso Cano"; Meant is the Spanish painter, sculptor and architect of the Baroque, Alonso Cano (1601-1667).; Depicted as stamp motive is the painting "Saint Agnes with lamb" (Spanish original title: Santa Inéz"); Meant is the Christian virgin Martyr of Rome (lived ca. 291- ca. 304 AD), which is venerated in the Catholic church, the Orthodox churches, the Anglican church, the Lutheran church etc. and is there commemorated by name in the Canon of the Mass.; This painting "Saint Agnes with lamb" was created in Rome in the time between 1624 and 1638 in the style of the Spanish Baroque and was probably destroyed in the Flak-tower of Berlin-Friedrichshain in May 1945.; Location until 1945 was the "Bode-Museum to Berlin" (then "Kaiser-Friedrich-Museum").; Alonso Cano, also called "the Michelangelo of Spain", was a narrow friend of Diego Valezquez.; stamp postmarked
