English: Duke of Cornwall and York laying the foundation stone of St. John's Anglican Cathedral, Brisbane, 1901 A crowd of spectators gathered to see his Royal Highness, the Duke of Cornwall and York, lay the foundation stone of the Anglican Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist. A group of girls, wearing hats and dresses, can be seen standing in a circle in the centre of the crowd. For the Royal party a carpet has been spread through a lane leading to the Cathedral site, and a dais provided in front of the foundation-stone.
