Summary edit

Description
English: Arch of welcome erected in Queen Street in honour of the visit of the Prince of Wales to Brisbane, 1920

The arch is in the block between Edward and Albert Streets.

One of the three commemorative arches to be erected in Queen Street is that contributed by the respective associations of the Brisbane timber merchants and fruit and produce merchants. A novel feature about this arch will be the utilisation of pine logs with the bark adhering, for the purpose of securing a rugged effect in the main frame work, the side pillars of which will rise 12 feet above the pavement. Above the reach of the predatory, the sceme of decoration will consist mainly of corn cobs, fruits, cereals, sugar cane and other greenery, and it is hoped to produce an effect in keeping with the industries which this arch is to symbolise.
