Summary edit

Description
English: Station de Chemin de Fer a Serrephaum (vintage Zangaki Brothers albumine photo) - 2-4-0 steam locomotive and a passenger train in 1875.

An 1875 view of an Egyptian passenger train in Suez, with a 2-4-0 steam locomotive, a livestock van and three third class wooden passenger cars.

Adelphoi Zangaki (the Zangaki Brothers) (active 1870s–1890s) were two Greek photographers who specialized in popular and ancient Egyptian scenes, producing prints for the tourist trade. They occasionally worked with the Port Said-based photographer, Hippolyte Arnoux.

Little is known about the brothers, except for their first names, George and Constantine, and that they worked out of Port Said and Cairo. Their photographs of late 19th century Egypt, though produced for sale to the flourishing European tourist trade to Egypt, are highly prized by historians and collectors for their insights into life at the time. Images included views of the pyramids, the Sphinx and several Egyptian cities, such as Suez or Alexandria, as well as daily life in pre-WWI Egypt.
