English: This video shows Britain's newest mainline steam locomotive, no 60163 "Tornado", hauling Steam Dreams' "Cathedrals Express" excursion from Tonbridge to Worcester on 19th March 2013. The train is seen passing through Twyford Station at 55mph on the relief line, just before an HST passes in the same direction on the fast line. (I know that one of these days I am going to get totally blocked by a fast train while shooting from the fast line platform, but so far I have been pretty fortunate there!)
"Tornado" was a new build completed in 2009 after a 20 year project by enthusiasts who wanted to recreate LNER's Peppercorn A1 Class, a class of express loco's that had all been scrapped under British Railways. She is a regular performer on the mainline and at heritage railways with exceptional power and performance. |
