English: Stile in Warren Woods, South Devon Coast Path There are numerous warnings about fire, etc, and there are firebeaters placed at the ready. This view is looking back towards Newfoundland Cove towards the south west.
After the storm in the late 1987, the coastal footpath was impassable as so many trees had been blown down. Many of them were Scots pines which were quite venerable. New ones have been planted subsequently and a lot of work carried out to make the footpath more easily navigable. However, there are strenuous parts of the route and anyone unsure of steep climbs up irregular steps should be wary. And be ready to take a breather - but there are resting spots. The National Trust seems to have responsibility for the Warren Woods. |
