Sul davanti, da un lato, e veduto quasidi schiena, sta colui che tiene il pastorale, ed è unadelle più belle figure del dipinto, con forme snelle edeleganti. Vuoisi rappresentata qui lordinazione a dia-cono di Santo Stefano: più lontano, nella campagna, 1 11 Bdldanzi, op. cil., a pag. 32-33, dice che la giovane donna inol-trandosi nella camp;igna sostiene sulle braccia il pargoletto nel mo-mento di presentarlo a un venerando sacerdote, che le era venutoincontro dal vicino tempio e cortesemente laccoglie, imponendo sului ambe le palme e accarezzandolo. 2 Questa pittura ha molto sofferto, specialmente nel mezzo dellaprima parte ove, come si notò, avviene per opera dello spirito malignolo scambio del fanciullo. Cosi pure sul davanti dellaltra parte è tutta,più o meno , alterata la pittura. 3 Vedi Vasari, voi. VI, pag. -fiO.
