English: Stratford: typical scene with a Goods and an empty stock train. View westward, from the main Up platform: ex-GE major junction. Thompson B1 4-6-0 No. 1104 (built 12/46, withdrawn 4/64) is perhaps demeaned by being put on an Up local goods working from Temple Mills. Behind, one of the numerous ex-GE Holden 0-6-0Ts, LNE No. 8612 (formerly 7165) (built as GE No. 165 in 7/1901, withdrawn as BR No. 68612 in 6/61) continues the almost endless work of shunting carriages. The movements at this spot were continuous and meanwhile there was constant activity on the Low Level line just underneath. |
