English: Stroudwater Navigation Company headquarters The former offices of the Stroudwater Navigation Company were built in a style characteristic of buildings on this canal and the adjoining Thames & Severn Canal. The offices are situated by the site of the infilled Wallbridge Basin - the original terminus of the Stroudwater Navigation (canal) before the construction of the Thames & Severn provided a link to the east.
This Stroudwater Navigation Company dates back to the 1730s and still exists today. It is believed to be the oldest surviving canal company in the private sector. See http://www.stroudwater.co.uk/cpsn/index.htm |
