Summary edit

Description A cable tray through penetration in a wall required to have a fire-resistance rating. The "firestop", shown here, is really not a firestop. It's only stuffed rockwool or fibreglass batt insulation. This is an illegal seal that has reduced the fire-resistance rating of that wall, and thus that fire compartment down to ZERO. At the time this picture was taken, in the mid 1980s, in Southern Ontario, Canada, this was both a building code and a fire code violation.
