English: Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva is known as Jizo (Jizo Bosatsu) in Japan.

It is often depicted as a child, with a red bib. In Japan, Jizo is a protector for especially children and those who died before reaching adulthood. Jizo is known as a very merciful figure, to even travel to hell and help those who suffer.

In the world, it is rare to find deities manifesting as child figure.
