English: The Swiss Cottage Inn and entrance to Underground Station. View southward on Finchley Road where Avenue Road branches off (to left); the entrance to the Station is on the left. In 1978 this was still the LT Bakerloo Line (Stanmore Branch), but on 1/5/79 it was transferred to the Jubilee Line, after reconstruction of the Bakerloo tunnels at Baker Street and the opening of the Tube tunnels from there to Charing Cross. (Charing Cross replaced the former Strand and Trafalgar Square Stations, until 1/5/99 when the Jubilee Line was extended to Stratford, by-passing Charing Cross). |
