English: Syon House There is copious information about the house and park, which are owned by the Duke of Northumberland, on its website here http://www.syonpark.co.uk/.
This is the west façade of the house viewed looking over the Thames. Syon Park is one of only a few places in the country where two significant battles have been fought. In 1016 there was a skirmish between between Canute and Edmund Ironside, and on 12 November 1642 the Battle of Brentford was fought in this locality between the Royalists and the Parliamentarians during the English Civil War. |
