The idea naturally suggests itself that the quickestresults in the treatment of bubo will be obtained bythe immediate excision of the glands (under antisepticprecautions) when they become inflamed, and theclosure of the wound by suture. It must be admittedthat in suitable cases this method offers an efficientmeans of treatment, which is too seldom taken advan-tage of. The complications to which open buboes are liable—viz., phagediena, gangrene, and diphtheritis—mustbe treated according to the rules laid down for softsores under similar circumstances.
