Tête d'un Bodhisattava (Maitreya ?) fragment d'une statue Art du Gandhara, Nord-ouest du Pakistan IIè siècle, période Kushan Schiste 30,1 x 22,6 cm

Du Ier siècle au VIIème siècle, au Gandhâra (actuellement au nord-ouest du Pakistan) s'est développé un style artistique mélangeant les influences gréco-romaines (résultant des conquêtes d'Alexandre le Grand), et le bouddhisme indien.
