夢二によるルポ：昨日まで、新時代の伊達男が、所謂文化婦人の左の手を取って、ダンシングホールからカフェーへと、ヂヤツク・ビツクルの足取りで歩いてゐた、所謂大正文化の模範都市と見えた銀座街が、今日は一躍数里の焦土と化した。

自分の頭が首の上に着いてゐることさへ、まだはつきりと感じられない。 化学も、宗教も、政治も、暫く呆然としたやうに見えたに無理はなかった。

大地震の意図を誰が知つてゐたらう。自然は、文化を一朝一揺りにして、一瞬にして太古を取返した。路行く人は裸体の上に、僅に一枚の布を纏つてゐるに過ぎない。何を言ふべきかも知らず、黙々として、たゞ左側をそろそろと歩いてゆく。命だけ持つた人、破れた鍋をさげた女、子供を負つた母、老婆を車にのせた子、何処から何処へ行くのか知らない。たゞ慌しく黙々として歩いてゆく。おそらく彼等自身も、何処へゆけば好いのか知らないのであろう。
