| Description | Trans Australian Railway standard gauge Class "XD" Diner No.XD20 built by P. Pengelly in 1918 for use on the new Port Pirie (SA) - Kalgoorlie (WA) service. This line became Commonwealth Railways which in 1918 converted it to a 3'6" gauge Class "NDB" for use on "The Ghan" from Port Pirie to Alice Springs (NT). It was then converted several times to and fro between the two gauges and in 1981 was reclassified XD20 (standard gauge); it was withdrawn in 1988. At the Bassendean Railway Museum, Perth, 02/10. | |||||||||||||
