Barrington South, Halifax, Nova Scotia. Dinner at Gingergrass. I can't say for sure that this is the best Thai food I've ever eaten - I have a sneaking suspicion that Family Thai, at the West Side Bazaar in Buffalo, is better - but Gingergrass will always occupy a special place in my heart. I first ate there in the summer of 2008, when I made a day trip to Halifax as part of five days on Prince Edward Island (sadly, I neglected to take pictures on that trip), and what bowled me over was not only the tasty food - markedly better than any Thai restaurant in Buffalo at the time - but also the wonderful, wonderful service. It was as if we were old friends that were stopping by to visit. My return trip the following year, depicted here, was no less enjoyable. If you're in Halifax for any reason and you like Thai food, I highly recommend that you pay a visit to the corner of Barrington and Morris Streets.

Je ne peux pas dire à coup sûr que celle-là soit la meilleure cuisine thaïlandaise que j'ai jamais mangé - j'ai la vague impression que Family Thai, au Bazar du Côté Occidental à Buffalo, est mieux - mais Gingergrass occupera toujours une place spéciale dans mon coeur. J'y ai mangé pour la première fois en l'été de 2008, quand j'ai pris une journée à Halifax dans le cadre de cinq jours sur l'Île-du-Prince-Édouard (malheureusement, j'ai oublié de prendre des photos lors de ce voyage), et ce qui m'a bouleversé n'était pas seulement la cuisine savoureuse - nettement meilleure que tout autre restaurant thaïlandais à Buffalo à l'époque - mais aussi le service très merveilleux. C'était comme si nous étions des vieux amis qui nous arrêtions pour y rendre visite. Ma visite de retour l'an prochain, représentée ici, n'était pas moins agréable. Si vous êtes à Halifax pour une raison quelconque et vous aimez la cuisine thaïlandaise, je recommande fortement que vous renidez visite à l'angle des rues Barrington et Morris.
