Additional Notes The legislature has moved from SB 1176 to amendments to the state budget bill in progress now and near a vote. This show describes some of the complexities for state officials even when they are concerned about energy rates and the environment.

The battle goes on, they say, but supporters of their legislative efforts are also continuing to criticize Millstone for a long record of dangerous problems including hydrogen explosions and other potentially catastrophic problems. As we hear, if this group of highly profitable plants goes into meltdown and causes loss of life and large scale financial damages to New England and beyond... the company is only exposed to a small amount of the cost for damages. It's a wild ride, but environmentalists have renewed their commitments to the battle to eliminate Connecticut's aging nuclear plant built in the 1970s, and safely store nuclear materials. Plant 1 remains in shut down as too dangerous, yet Millstone's spokesperson appears unaware of the problem and suggests it is in shut down because "the state decided it was not cost effective"... no sense of responsibility at all despite Fukushima. Our coverage on this is at the beginning stages... Tonight there is a meeting with state DEP experts on radiation.
