Description
English: The Intarsia of Langon, a marble tombstone that covered the sepulcher of the Hospitaller knight Josepho de Langon in the Cathedral of Cartagena, and which is presently preserved in the Municipal Archaeological Museum of Cartagena.
Josepho de Langon Alverno died on April 18, 1710, in naval engagement against the Barbary pirates off the Spanish Eastern coast. His comrades in arms buried him in nearby Cartagena, his brother Adriano paying for the mosaic showing a large coat of arms of Cartagena binded to the Maltese cross, held by two supporters of both sexes and with different scenes of combat between Muslim and Order of Saint John warships superimposed.
Español: La taracea de Langón, una lápida de mármol que cubría el sepulcro del caballero hospitalario José de Langón en la Catedral de Cartagena, y que se conserva actualmente en el Museo Arqueológico Municipal de Cartagena.
José de Langón Alverno falleció el 18 de abril de 1710, en combate naval contra los piratas berberiscos frente a la costa del Levante español. Sus compañeros de armas le dieron sepultura en la cercana Cartagena, sufragando su hermano Adriano el mosaico en el que se muestra un gran escudo de Cartagena enlazado con la Cruz de Malta, sujetado por dos tenantes de ambos sexos y con distintas escenas de combate entre barcos musulmanes y de la Orden de San Juan superpuestas.
