DescriptionTerrified Sheep - geograph.org.uk - 669603.jpg |
English: Terrified Sheep These sheep weren't being curious - they were terrified, cowering into the little hideaway provided by the gateway into the field. For about 10 minutes I saw them being chased from one side of the field to the other by a loose Alsatian dog (seen in the distance) who was repeatedly being called and whistled to by its distraught sounding owner.
For the dog, it was all harmless fun - he/she never actually attacked any of the sheep but I now understand why farmers hate dogs that "worry" sheep - they could so easily harm themselves in their panic and also, one of the sheep in the foreground looked like it was suffering from some form of respiratory problem or heart condition as it was panting heavily with its tongue lolling out for at least five minutes after the others had calmed down. |
