On division of the skin, abundant fat, the streng jDlantarfascia, and the muscular fibres of the adjacent edges of the flexor brevis digitorumand abductor minimi digiti are exposed, with the artery lying between them. (ß) The plantar arch at the first i7iterosseous space (Fig. 69). An incision ismade backwards in the hoUow outside the ball of the great toe, in the direction of aline from the second toe to the point of the heel, through skin, abundant fat, and thestrong plantar fascia.
