English: Famous Thakur Baba Temple located in Ward No. 9 of Thakur Baba Municipality of Bardia District. This place is also called Thakur Baba Intermediate Religious Forest. This temple of Lord Bishnu is surrounded by lush greenery, tranquil environment in the dense forest of Bardiya. This temple is located near the famous Bagh Chowk of Thakur Baba. The entrance to the temple is very large with two gates. Entering from the gate, the path of the beautiful garden leads to the reach temple. To the right of this beautiful temple is the temple of Shiva and in front is a small temple of Saraswati, a mandapa and a large beautiful Tulsi monastery. Behind the temple, there is a small roof with idols of various deities. There is also a walled pond at the back. There is also a temple of Ban Devi at some distance from this temple. Inside this temple is a stone idol of Bishnu. This idol is called Thakur in the local language. There is a legend about the origin of this idol that it was erected while Lord Krishna was in the form of Gwala. The idol is said to have been erected while excavating to find out the power behind the disappearance of the idol. In this temple, a fair is held on the day of Maghe Sankranti festival of Hindus. Devotees throng this temple on that day. On this day, devotees bathe in the Khaira river, worship in the temples here and ask for blessings to fulfill their desires.
