DescriptionThe "Survivor Tree", Campsie Playing Fields, Omagh - geograph.org.uk - 602209.jpg |
English: The "Survivor Tree", Campsie Playing Fields, Omagh I once called this very ancient tree the survivor tree because it withstood various alterations to the surrounding terrain and drastic tree surgery, but looking at the hollow in the centre, more apparent now with the leaves almost all off, it makes you wonder how much longer it can survive. It must have witnessed some historical events in its time, including the alleged passage of King James over the site of King James Bridge on his way to the Siege of Derry. |
