Summary edit

Description
English: The 'Sleeper' Awaits Departure from Euston The Scottish 'Caledonian Sleepers' (or 'beds' as they are called in railway circles) are the longest regular passenger trains now operating in Britain. The 21:15 departure from Euston has some 15 coaches. On arrival at Edinburgh it is split into 3 sections; for Inverness, Aberdeen & Fort William. The 23:15 departure from Euston has sections for Edinburgh and Glasgow. Given the high costs of running these services - dedicated locomotives, non-standard (and ageing) rolling stock, high staffing levels - their longer-term future must be doubtful. However, passenger numbers are being boosted by the availability of heavily discounted advanced purchase tickets.
