Early returnsindicate that the half-way point has been passed inthe plan to have a million members by the time ofthe Minneapolis Convention. Men who had notbeen in service would not have embarked on anysuch whirlwind undertaking. But they realized thatthey had to deal with men and women who had beenin service. So if the swift development of the AmericanLegion is smashing all precedents in history it isbecause a new kind of energy, fused in the fire ofwar, is at work.
