Littleblame can be attached to the architect for his refusal to serve as part of apolitical regime, when such an appointment belittles the office which heassumed with high regard for its artistic features. Similar action has beentaken by Dwight If. Perkins, architect of the Chicago School Board, whoalso withdrew from his position n account of political interference. Suchillustrations of the interference with the development of art and architec-ture in the public schools demonstrate the wisdom of separating our edu-cational functions as far as possible from political manipulation.
