VAIPARAJSO 'CROWN POINT dunes. An entire day was given to the hearing, which attracted wide- spread attention. The various significant features of the Dunes, scenic, scientific and recreational, were set forth by representatives of Chicago University, The Academy of Sciences, and various organizations such as The Geographic Society of Chicago, The Friends of Our Native Landscape, The Prairie Club, and others, including, of course, The Illinois Audubon Society. The hearing was very friendly to the project, Mr. Mather himself being thoroughly acquainted with the dune topography, and personally very much in sympathy with the preservation of the area as a public park. To assist in the accomplishment of this end, a National Dune Park Association has been organized and articles of incorporation were taken up at Gary, Indiana, October 15th, which have been sent to the Secretary of State of Indiana.
