English: The Birling Gap Fishing Fleet Puts to Sea. This lobster boat has a Newhaven registration and it is launched at high tide by pushing it down the shingly beach over a series of small rollers. It is pulled back up the beach by a winch (the rope is visible above) and is also winched up a very steep ramp to the clifftop when necessary. |
