Summary edit
DescriptionThe Buck Stone - geograph.org.uk - 736918.jpg |
English: The Buck Stone This large boulder on a ridge known by the same name and is situated almost on the summit, until 1775 it was thought the boulder could be rocked.
'Later the stone attracted attempts to topple it, a feat that was achieved in 1885 by a party of five travelling actors and a Monmouth innkeeper, with whom they were lodging. The stone split into several pieces, but at the expense of the Crown, the landowner, it was cemented together and secured in its place with an iron bar'.
