| Description |
English: The Children's Village, Humbie Mrs Stirling Boyd O.B.E founded Humbie Children's Village in 1886. It provided fortnightly holidays for deprived children from inner city areas, many of whom would never have seen the countryside before. A matron was in charge of the village and house mothers looked after the children in each house. It is no longer in use and the complex was sold for residential development. |
