The Kells Dental Electric System 360 THE DENTAL COSMOS. —one which any intelligent operator could understand and use suc-cessfully,—has, it is believed, been accomplished. During the several years of its use the system has been constantlyundergoing modifications and improvements. The present apparatus,containing my latest devices, was put up October I, 1890, and hasbeen in constant use since that date. It requires no more attentionthan an ordinary foot engine. The cleaning and oiling are done bymy assistant. Formerly, when the mains would become grounded at times, asthey are apt to do during wet weather where the street wires areexposed, the use of the mallet would become extremely painful uponcertain teeth. I discovered the cause to be the current passingthrough my hand and thumb to the tooth. This difficulty was over-come by inlaying the plugger at the point of contact with the thumbwith hard rubber.
