Description
English: As seen in May 2020: The Elizabeth, a charming brick apartment building at 98 Chenango Street (corner Massachusetts Avenue), Buffalo, New York. Built c. mid- to late 1890s, Renaissance Revival is the aesthetic employed here, though the stylized textile/rug motif on the band of decorative brickwork at the roofline of the building, under the cornice, would be further popularized in the early part of the following century by some practitioners of the Art Deco style. What a shame about the ground-floor windows facing Chenango Street.
