English: The Four Gospels: front cover of pieced brocade with what appears to be a pattern of intentional holes drilled through the board along the head, fore, and tail edges. 198 x 140 x 105 mm. Wooden boards, 12 mm. thick, with the grain running vertically. The exposed back board shows tool marks, covered with cloth, brocade, the dominant colers being red, yellow, blue, green, and metal (silver) thread. Northern Greece, contemporary with the manuscript dated by colophon May 31, 1430. University of Michigan Library Ms. 30
