Summary edit

Description

New South Wales Government steam tram 47 in the Great Exhibition Hall at the National Tramway Museum, Crich, Derbyshire, UK. Behind and to the left can be seen the Dundee and District Tramways steam tram trailer 21, representing the sort of passenger carrying trailer that a steam tram like 47 would have pulled.

At the National Tramway Museum in Crich.

The Museum started in the 1950s / 60s when most of the old tram networks in the cities of the UK were being closed down.

The Tramway Museum Society was formed in the late 1940s when the decline began and they started to purchase the trams, track etc.

The Crich site came to the attention of the society in the late 1950s. They later purchased the site.
